Hope Walks Here!

The Out of the Darkness Campus Walks are the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's (AFSP) signature student fundraising series, designed to engage youth and young adults in the fight to prevent suicide, a leading cause of death.

If you're looking for support and/or resources, please visit www.afsp.org/get-help and www.afsp.org/resources.

Connect with the local Indiana Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or find a local chapter of AFSP in your hometown (we have 73 chapters in all 50 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico).

A message from AFSP Indiana:

We want to make sure all participants know about the resources available to them.

Losing someone to suicide is a uniquely painful experience, and the path forward is different for everyone. Grief comes in waves, and support is needed in different ways at different times. We want to offer you a place of comfort and connection. Our American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) website is filled with resources specifically for suicide loss survivors, and we hope you will keep it close and revisit it whenever you need.

Connection is essential in healing. Surrounding yourself with those who understand—people who have walked this path and those who can help make sense of what your loved one may have been going through—can bring moments of peace and strength. There is a community here, ready to support you with open hearts and understanding arms.  Please know that we are here to offer support and assistance along the way. The Indiana Chapter Board and our Healing Conversations volunteers are here with loving arms, ready to help. Healing Conversations is a FREE one-time visit (phone, virtual, in-person)  that connects those who have lost a loved one to suicide with trained volunteers who are also survivors of suicide loss. The goal of this connection is to help recent survivors navigate this challenging journey by offering support, connection and resources.

As fellow Loss Survivors, we know how overwhelming this journey can be. Below, you will find resources that we hope will bring even the smallest sense of comfort and guidance in the days, months, and years ahead. Please be gentle with yourself and remember that support is always within reach. You are never alone.

We look forward to coming together as a community on April 13th for the Butler Out of the Darkness Walk, supporting one another as we navigate this journey.
